Zach Bryan defends his friends after claiming they were attacked online following his breakup Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia.
“All you weird couch warriors who attack and belittle my friends on the internet because you assume I have a girlfriend are weird as hell and should be studied for science,” Bryan, 28, wrote in a lengthy Instagram -Story rant on Thursday, January 9th. “Everyone is wondering why I stopped touring and don’t want to commit to music anymore while you call my friends ugly and harass them?”
Bryan added that he wasn’t looking for “sympathy” but rather condemning the “base and messed up” actions he’d taken against his friends.
“Apparently I’ve had four different girlfriends in about two weeks while my friends and I are just laughing and hanging out like we always do,” he wrote, before clarifying his current relationship status. “I don’t have a girlfriend and don’t plan on having one, but I have normal friends that I love very much and for whom I would go to the ends of the earth.”
Bryan continued his rant by encouraging others to “dedicate their attention and time to literally burning the city down,” seemingly in reference to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
“Stop being so sad, moody and childish through screens. The last thing I’ll ever say about it. Crazy, I even have to do it,” he wrote. “You don’t know me. You will never know me. Stop acting the way you do.”
The singer added that instead of attacking people in his inner circle, his critics should talk about him because he can handle it.
“I am allowed to have love, laughter and good people in my life. No matter how bad you think I am, get me. I can take all the hate because I’m not a child,” he wrote in a subsequent Instagram story. “But don’t come for my friends who do nothing but love and care for me. Everyone wants you to have fun and make great music, but you guys make it really hard because my friends get insulted and death threats every day.”

Bryan shared that he’s worked “really hard” for his success, but the constant chatter on social media makes him want to stay out of the spotlight.
“Whether you think I deserve it or not. Whether you think I suck or not. Stop being such sad, fat-fingered internet sleuths to my friends,” he wrote. “We’re all human and I’m so tired of people thinking that social media is a way to take a moral stand on people they’ve never met? Presumably people aren’t people anymore since they can hide behind screens? Weird ass man, ok I’m done.”
Bryan actually wasn’t finished yet. He shared another note in which he explained that he doesn’t want others to give him tips on how to “deal with something or things you’ve never dealt with yourself.”
“I lost my mother, been in war zones and fought this whole fame thing for five years. With all due respect, I don’t need your unsolicited advice, I’m a grown man. I promise I can take down some petty bullies on the internet,” he wrote. “I am so shockingly unfazed by the fake things people say about me online, but coming forward for people I love and care about is my line and the final straw. “
Bryan ended his rant by saying he would be stepping away from social media “for a while.”
Bryan made headlines late last year following his dramatic split from LaPaglia, 25. In October 2024, Bryan shared that he and the Barstool Sports personality had broken up after more than a year of dating. LaPaglia claimed so she was “blind” through the musician’s public announcement.
LaPaglia took one Taking a break from social media After the breakup, Bryan kept a low profile. A month after the breakup, LaPaglia returned to her “BFFs” podcast where she gave something Insight into their dynamics with Bryan and claimed she was “emotionally abused” by the musician.
