Charlamagne Tha God says “There is nothing incompetent” about Wendy Williams

Speaking to his co-hosts Jess Hilarious and DJ Envy on Tuesday morning, Charlamagne claimed that he and Williams met during a phone conversation over the holidays.

“She was…(she) seemed perfectly fine to me,” he said, adding: “Wendy (sounds) like she could do radio tomorrow if she wanted to.”

Charlamagne’s comments are consistent with what most have seen from Williams recently, with the former talk show host appearing alert and present at her son’s graduation ceremony in December.

According to Charlamagne, Williams was just as in control of her mental state during their phone conversation.

“She called me, and I don’t know what ‘incapacitated’ means in terms of dementia or whatever she’s supposedly dealing with,” he claimed, as reported in MOOD“But no, there’s nothing unworthy about Wendy Williams.”

She was mentally sharp as she chatted with Charlamagne: ‘She sounds like Wendy Williams’

To solidify his belief, Charlamagne hilariously brought up Williams asking why he didn’t seem more excited to hear from his old friend.

“She asked (me), ‘Why are you answering the phone like we spoke yesterday (or) last week?’ She wanted me to be more excited when she called me,” he admitted with a laugh.

When asked what Williams’ energy seemed to be like, Charlamagne responded succinctly: “She sounds like Wendy Williams!”

He then noticed his phone accidentally go into recording mode while he was washing his hands, which Williams immediately noticed – and just as quickly dismissed.

“No, you wouldn’t do that,” Charlamagne-as-Wendy insisted.

“She is completely normal,” he then confirmed.

Charlamagne’s comments contrast with what was reportedly suggested in a November filing by Williams’ guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey, in her lawsuit against A&E Networks, Lifetime Entertainment and several subsidiaries behind the four-part documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?”

In a report by PEOPLEWilliams was said to be “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and incapacitated” due to her ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. Therefore, Williams was reportedly unable to be filmed, but Lifetime did so anyway.

“‘(Where Is Wendy Williams?’) was filmed without a valid contract and released without the consent of the Guardian,” Morrisey’s claim says, adding that Williams was “clearly incapable of consenting to being filmed, let alone humiliated and to be exploited.”

A&E has filed suit against Morrisey, saying that no one on Williams’ team – including Morrissey himself – requested a halt to filming.

Wendy Williams attended her son’s graduation and seemed “attentive.”

The incredulity of Morrisey’s claims is compounded by footage of Williams appearing fully alert at a recent public event in Florida.

Per The explosionIn December, Williams was spotted at Florida International University attending her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s graduation ceremony. Williams sat in a red mobility scooter and enjoyed her son’s big moment while her father, Thomas Williams Sr., and sister, Wanda Finnie, sat nearby.

That same evening, a fiery Williams was filmed demanding to know why her handlers had done this left them unattended in the middle of the street.

“They want to work for me, that’s what they (should) do,” Williams told a cameraman. “Get the g-d-mn car!”

Days before Hunter’s ceremony, Williams appeared to be in a more positive mood as she waited in her car for a seafood order.

Wendy Williams’ son is still fighting to bring his mother home

While commenting on an Instagram post about his graduation ceremony, Hunter, Williams’ only son, updated the radio legend’s fans on his attempts to keep his mother in Florida, where he currently lives.

“While I’m here, a quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home,” Hunter shared. “We are fighting to make this happen,” he continued, “because isolation kills them faster than anything else.”

Hunter has been by his mother’s side for months, including during a visit to a holistic store in New Jersey last year.
