More than one company brought a robot vacuum cleaner with a mechanical arm to CES 2025
It turns out that Roborock isn’t the only company that brought a robot vacuum with a mechanical arm to CES 2025. Rival company Dreame has introduced its Climb stairs Robot Vacuum Cleaner Earlier this week is also working on a robot vacuum cleaner with an arm to pick up objects.
According to the company, the device is still a prototype, but the as-yet-unnamed robo-vacuum cleaner was on full display at Dreame’s CES booth. Considering it’s still a prototype, the actual arm looked noticeably more massive compared to the one on it Roborock’s Saros Z70. It was much thicker and had a larger “claw” that looked like it could hold slightly heavier objects. (Roborock says its vacuum can hold items weighing up to 300 grams.)
Unfortunately, Dreame didn’t show it actually grasping anything, but I was able to watch the arm extend and retract several times. It appeared to be a similar device to the X50, as the prototype vacuum also stood on “legs”, similar to Dreame’s stair-shaped X50.
A Dreame representative at the booth told me that the company has been working on the prototype for some time, but has decided to accelerate its plans for the vacuum at CES. After a quick glance up, I knew exactly what he meant: Dreame’s booth is directly across from Roborock, who had a giant replica of his arm-swinging Saro Z70 on display at his booth.
Maybe next year we’ll see the two robot vacuum arms wrestle.
