“So far it feels like it’s vibrating, almost like a massage.” These are the words of my colleague, CNET Editor-in-Chief Lisa Eadicicco, in reference to the Nike x Hyperice shoes we got to try on during the session CES 2025. Actually, think of them as therapeutic recovery boots or high-tops. Shoes that you can adjust to give your feet and calves more support than compression socks and warm your tired muscles.
And here’s the kicker: they can walk around in them while trying to work their recovery magic.
“You can definitely feel the heat here,” Eadicicco said as she walked through a demo room in Las Vegas. While the Nike x Hyperice shoes were first presented at the Paris Olympics last summer, we took the opportunity to try them out for ourselves, as a taste of more to come in the area where electronics help in active recovery and not only supports the monitoring of your vital signs.
These battery-powered boots feature compression and warmth for both warm-up and post-workout recovery. Nike says A “system of dual-air Normatec bladders connected to warming elements” distributes heat evenly throughout the boot and aims to warm the muscles and tissue in your feet and ankles.

The Nike x Hyperice shoes have a few buttons that allow you to control three different levels of compression and warmth. It massages and compresses your ankles and feet, and in our test of the shoes, you can particularly feel the warmth around your ankles.
It’s hard to say how effective the shoes are as a warm-up or recovery system for training without testing them longer, but upon first use these qualities are definitely noticeable.
The shoes are equipped with Velcro fasteners, have a soft and comfortable feel and are currently not available in single sizes, but in various sizes, for example men’s sizes 10 to 12. Nike is working on a consumer version that will go on sale, however, there is No information yet about when it will come onto the market and how much it will cost.
Nike is also developing a compression and thermal vest as part of the wearable line.
