Road accidents in Morocco’s urban areas killed 17 people last week
Rabat – According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 17 people were killed and 2,794 injured, 92 of them seriously, in the 2,139 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas between December 23 and 29.

These accidents are mainly due to driver inattention, lack of right of way, speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance, as DGSN emphasized in a press release.
In terms of controlling and combating traffic offenses, according to the same source, the security services issued 48,238 traffic tickets, submitted 9,014 reports to the prosecutor’s office and collected 39,224 fines amounting to 8.6 million dirhams.
The DGSN also reported the confiscation of 4,965 vehicles, the decommissioning of 450 additional vehicles and the revocation of 9,014 driving licenses.
