The Magpies claim their fifth league win in a row as Spurs’ misery continues
Newcastle came from behind to record a fifth straight Premier League win as they beat Spurs 2-1 in the early kick-off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Anthony Gordon and the in-form Alexander Isak ensured Eddie Howe’s side took all three points in London as their quest for a place in the top four gathers pace.
Despite Dominic Solanke’s early lead, Spurs suffered their third defeat in four games and remain in the bottom half of the table without a league win since December 15.
The Magpies, who have seen off the likes of Manchester United and Aston Villa in recent weeks, are level on points with Chelsea but the Blues play later today.

How the action developed
Solanke got Ange Postecoglou’s side off to the perfect start when he scored a brilliant header from Pedro Porro’s cross within four minutes.

But the lead didn’t last long. Just two minutes later and with new England coach Thomas Tuchel watching from the stands, Gordon finished superbly from a tight angle to bring Newcastle back to level.
While the first team showed some forward play, Newcastle’s second team were perhaps quite lucky.
In the 37th minute, Jacob Murphy’s cross from the right hit Radu Dragusin’s outstretched leg and straight into the path of Isak, who shot the ball into the net for the seventh league game in a row.

In the end it was the difference between the two sides. Despite numerous late chances from the hosts in the second half and 12 minutes of stoppage time at the end, Postecoglou’s team were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities and will have to rue another frustrating afternoon.
For Howe and Newcastle, their good recent run of success continues.
