Tulsi Gabbard resigns as Trump’s intelligence chief

Tulsi Gabbard resigns as president Donald TrumpThe director of national intelligence, she announced on Friday.

Gabbard said in a resignation letter addressed to Trump that she had to resign to support her husband, Abraham Williams, who was “recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”

“I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this battle alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position,” she wrote in Friday’s letter.

Her resignation will be effective June 30, she wrote.

Trump confirmed that Gabbard was “unfortunately” leaving in a letter later Friday Truth Social post that she “did an incredible job and we will miss her.”

The deputy director of national intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will replace Gabbard in an acting capacity, Trump wrote in the post.
