The military is carrying out airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen


The US military confirmed it had carried out airstrikes in Yemen and said it had targeted a missile depot and a command and control center of the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the successful strikes in a press release on Saturday, saying they were intended to “disrupt and weaken” Houthi operations.

“CENTCOM forces conducted targeted attacks to disrupt and impair Houthi operations, such as attacks on U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and…” Gulf of AdenCENTCOM said in a press release.

Footage from CENTCOM showed the F/A-18 taking off. The agency said it also used assets from the navy and the Air Force.

“The strike reflects CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to protecting U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners and international shipping,” it said.

The Attacks against shipping are underway, and Houthi fighters have vowed to continue until Israel ends its campaign in Gaza.
