BBC enters Syrian prison with IS prisoners

The overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime has not released all Syrian prisoners.

Al-Sina prison in the north-east of the country, which is under Kurdish control, houses more than 5,000 prisoners.

These prisoners – including some Brits – are suspected fighters and supporters of the so-called Islamic State group. Most are said to have remained loyal to him until his last mission in 2019.

The BBC’s senior international correspondent Orla Guerin has been granted rare access to visit the prison.
