Members of the Xbox Alpha Testing Group, consumer who try up the upcoming updates before they go live for everyone, were surprised to find out that the latest alpha update was somewhat more destructive than just not functioning. It is occasionally the case that one of these updates of one of its new functions that are still tested not fully realized, but this is not quite the case with the latest update. This actually relies on the entire Xbox to factory settings and essentially deletes everything from the console.
Members of the insider test group switched on their Xbox consoles both the series S and the series X and were confronted with a rather concise message “There was a problem with the update”.
This message was then shared by insider test members on social media website like Reddit to confirm that it was not an individual problem. There were corrections such as the attempt to install older firmware or easy to avoid this update, but not much could be done after the update. Since the Xbox -Backs saved in a cloud, most that would be lost were screenshot and video recordings locally and a lot of wasted time to recharge everything.
In addition, this is the point of the early access program for new updates. Most updates are okay, but they are essentially only abortion tests to ensure that things are ironed before they went to people who have not registered for unstable updates. In this sense, even a buggy update is successful because Microsoft allows problem areas to march out.
But it is every nightmare of all software engineers and programmers that you wake up awake in cold sweat at night: what if something is pushed out and it has catastrophic effects? Unfortunately, it cannot be avoided with certainty. The software must be tested at some point and how a team can be prepared before passing it on to the first group of testers, there will always be unpredictable variables.
Knowing an important lesson, however, is how the acceptance of the audience is of this dynamic. In this case, the people have registered as part of this program, which fully understood that it was at best unstable. But for a wider audience? This would absolutely not fly. Armed with this information, a lot of pressure can be put aside.
But if you are in the insider program, maybe wait a little before updating your Xbox.
