The Kansas City Chiefs started scoring early in their Christmas game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday afternoon.

Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from the quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs took a 6-0 lead.

Worthy appeared to be having a Christmas celebration with his teammates and then lifted up his shirt.

NFL officials punished Worthy for the play. But fans were confused as to why the flag was raised. Some suspected that Worthy may have pretended to have a gun on him. Weapons-themed celebrations were a point of contention among players.

Later in the first quarter, Mahomes threw his second touchdown pass of the game, an 11-yarder to wide receiver Justin Watson.

The Chiefs have struggled all season, but still had a 14-1 record entering Week 17 against the Chiefs the Steelers.

Worthy was a bright spot for a receiving corps decimated by injuries. He has 51 catches for 559 yards and five touchdown catches this season. He also has three rushing touchdowns.

Last week, Worthy had seven catches for 65 yards and a touchdown catch against the Houston Texans. It was the second straight week he received double-digit targets. Before the game against the Cleveland Browns, he had not scored more than eight goals in a single game.
