Bluesky has constantly replaced x (formerly Twitter) for me, but I really missed the ability to mark contributions as future reference. While X still has the old bookmark of Twitter, there is the only way to save a bluesky contribution, in liking it because you can access a list of your POLOMED contributions on your profile page.
This is not always comfortable – what if you don’t like something, but want to find again later, do you say whether it is an article about bad but important news? That is where coast Come in. It is a browser expansion for chrome And Firefox In this way you can save Bluesky contributions in one click.

I previously wrote about the function of Bluesky app passwords with which you can authorize apps from third-party providers to access your account without having to give your real password. Kyst does not use app passwords and prefers to authentication instead (short for open authorization). In Oauth you can combine third -party apps with most social networks. The app calls for access to your Bluesky account, and if you authorize it, your username or password can still not be displayed. In theory, this is a great step like bluesky Plans to get rid of app passwords ultimately. In practice, however, things are somewhat complicated.
At the time of writing, bluesky does not yet allow you to see which apps you have authorized with Oauth, and that means that you cannot quickly revoke the access to apps you don’t want to use. This is expected to change in the coming months, since Bluesky Oauth will use in a broader sense. If you no longer want to use Kyst, you have to unsubscribe from Bluesky and delete the browser extension. The developer informed me in an e -mail that they also work to delete their Kyst accounts in the future.
As soon as you have installed Kyst on Chrome or Firefox and authorized the extension, you can use it via the official Bluesky website. It adds a small bookmark button under each post and shows a button on the right side of the screen on which a sidebar displays or hides.

As soon as Kyst is set up, Bluesky contributions in your browser are displayed in addition to the button. Click once to get a bookmark and click again to undo it. The Kyst key on the right side of the page opens a sidebar with which you can display your bookmarks.
The expansion is so easy and works pretty well. If you are not in your browser, you can also visit https://kyst.app/bookmarks To see and organize your bookmarks. For this organization, you can add tags to your bookmarks on the Kyst side strip and the Kyst website, which makes it easy to categorize and find stored articles that you are looking for. With the expansion you can also filter stored articles by date, type of post (regular contributions to threads) or according to the media attached to the mail.
As a writer, I love to use Kyst to save posts that give me story ideas, but there are a few large edges. Both in Chrome and Firefox, the expansion has an error with which it shows massive thumbnail views for stored contributions. On Firefox I noticed that the sidebar did not have to display posts, so I had to switch to the bookmark page to see the articles I stored.
