Will a major star in AEW be kicked out of The House of Black after a major report surfaces? Analysis of opportunities
The House of Black has been a dominant faction in AEW since its inception. The group won the Trios Championship and terrorized the locker room. However, things aren’t looking good for the group, especially given rumors that one of the members might be leaving AEW.
Malakai Black is the leader of House Black. He initially founded the group with Brody King and Buddy Matthews before adding Julia Hart to their ranks. The group was initially successful in the company, but the last year has left fans wanting more. Due to their lackluster booking, fans believed that Malakai Black might leave the company following his loss to Adam Cole on the November 6 episode of Dynamite.
However, Black denied these rumors and even lashed out at fans for believing misinformation. Although he denied these rumors, Black has not stepped foot in the ring since Full Gear 2024, which raised eyebrows among many.
Even Bryan Alvarez from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported this People in Tony Khan’s company believe he is barred from promotion. Therefore, it’s entirely possible that AEW could script an angle where Malakai Black is attacked by his stablemates, thereby writing him off television while he leaves the promotion. The basis of the attack could be that the group has achieved nothing under Black in recent months and appears weak compared to other factions.
Buddy Matthews teased his departure from the House of Black following the loss on AEW Dynamite
Buddy Matthews was with the House of Black from the start of his AEW run. He has had some incredible matches during his time in the company and despite his amazing skills, he is always viewed as Black’s sidekick.
This week on Dynamite, Buddy Matthews competed against Will Ospreay and failed. After the match, Ospreay released a promo saying that Buddy and King didn’t have to follow a leader, referring to Malakai Black. After Dynamite went off the air, Matthews released an exclusive promo saying that Ospreay’s words didn’t fall on deaf ears.
“2024 is in the books, 2025 is the now and it’s just around the corner, and I haven’t started my 2025 the way I had hoped. Especially the upcoming Grand Slam in Australia next month, but Will has heard my name for years, “Your words didn’t fall on deaf ears tonight,” Matthews said.
It will be interesting to see if this could be the beginning of the end for the House of Black.
