The mid -2010s were a great time for Matthew McConaughey, who won a newly discovered respect as an actor for his one or two blow by “true detective” and “Interstellar” in 2014. Fans of the book, it was adapted (“The Gunslinger”), hated it, critics hated it and regular spectators found it unforgettable. The film made his budget back at the box office, but still did not earn enough to justify a sequel. It certainly seems to be the wrong choice for McConaughey, but he had some good reasons for the decision.

Two of his best, most important characters – Eddie and Susannah – only appear in Buch 2, and readers love them.
Unfortunately, McConaughey’s role as a man in black was short -lived
In the end it is probably the main reason why McConaughey selected “The Dark Tower” because the film simply spoke more about its taste. It is easy to see what he means. The appearances of Idris Elba were the best parts of the film, the only elements that nobody can complain about. The film itself may not have much justice to the starting material, but McConaughey did justice to the man in black, who is also known as Walter Padick or Randall Flag. ((He has many names.) If things had gone according to plan, McConaughey’s character would have returned in the sequels to continue to cause chaos.
Instead, all continuation plans that the series may end shortly after the film was published. “Dark Tower” fans spent the next few years without hope for a good, loyal adaptation before Amazon announced that A TV adaptation was in the works 2022. This is led by Mike Flanagan, who previously adapted “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” with great success.
