Doha- King Mohammed VI appointed Abdelkader Amara as the new President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Cese) on Monday. The Appointment Brings an experienced politician and academic to the top of this important advisory facility.
Amara, 63, brings extensive ministerial experience into his new role after working in several cabinet positions such as Minister of Industry, Minister of Energy and Minister of Equity.
He briefly Office held As an interim economics and finance minister in August 2018.
Amara’s academic journey in Bouarfa in the Oriental region of East Marocco began at the Omar Ibn Abdelaziz High School in Oujda, where he received his scientific high school diploma in 1979.
He received his doctorate in 1986 at the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine in Rabat, where he later became a professor. His academic activities led him to France in 1989 to receive further studies.
His career includes both academic and political areas, including a decades of position as a scientific advisor to the world science organization in Sweden.
In parliament Amara acted as a member the judicial and development party, which held positions as chief treasurer of the party and has been a member of Salé since 2002.
In his new role at Cese, Amara will concentrate on strengthening the reinforcement of this AdviceThe position as a placement body and at the same time important priorities such as social protection, youth initiatives, social dialogue and territorial inequalities.
An important task in his new role is to better align Cese’s work with current government and legislative matters.
Amara’s experience in anti -corruption Efforts is reflected in his ability as a founding member of the Association of Moroccan Parliamentarians against corruption.
He also took on the role of the Vice President of the World Forum of the Islamic Parliamentarian and maintains membership in various international organizations.
