A goal in the second half of Ollie Watkins against his former team was the difference when Aston Villa achieved an urgently needed Premier League victory over Brentford.
The villa awarded 1-0 to 49 minutes in the GTECH Community Stadium with a kind permission of Watkins’ strike to achieve a second league victory in eight games in eight games.
Morgan Rogers saw how a goal was held away from the sidelines when Emery’s men defended determined to see the draw and to score important three points.
The result moves the villa to seventh place, a point behind Brighton and Chelsea.
For Brentford, the result was only her second defeat in six games and leaves Thomas Frank’s team in the 12th place.

How the action develops
Brentford started the brightest and could have been in front of us after only six minutes if Yoane Wissa did not prepare for the last-thick tackle of Youri Tielemans after John McGinn’s mistake.
In a largely open first half, Tyrone Mings might have asked a little more effort through a free kick, but the defense lawyer’s volley was hit directly into the arms of a grateful market flekken.
Tielemans then attracted another stopover from Flekken before the header of the Belgian was turned over his own bar by Ethan Pinnock.
After a goalless first half, it only lasted three minutes of the second time before the deadlock was broken. Watkins picked up the ball on the Villa’s on the left before cutting it in and unleashed a violent strike, which was embedded into the lower corner via a slight distraction.

Seconds later, Watkins was in an almost identical position, but this time the ball rolled over the box to the oncoming Rogers that hit home.
But after a VAR examination was excluded for one offside against Watkins.
The game had suddenly got started. Wissa pressed a header directly over the bar, while Axel Disasi refused Kevin Schade twice with important blocks.
Kean Lewis-Potter Brentfords had the best chance in 70 minutes when he rattled the post with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Watkins could have put the tie beyond the hosts when he raced clearly with five minutes of the 90 remaining races, but the England man went for a broken finish that landed directly in the arms of Flekken.
In the end, the Miss would not prove to be expensive. Villa and Disasi in particular defend themselves well to keep the lead and give visitors important three points.
Emery’s team will go down in their second division of the middle of the week full of confidence.
