The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Younes Sekkouri, emphasized the importance of the “Wafira” program as an innovative model of the circular professional mobility. This project, the fruit of Moroccan-Spanish cooperation, enables Moroccan rural workers to gain international experiences, improve their skills and contribute to the development of their communities of origin.
During the graduation ceremony, the Spanish minister Elma Saiz Delgado welcomed this initiative, which already made 209 Moroccan women possible to create their own activity under the status of a self -entrepreneur. It announced a second phase of the program, which was supported by the European Union and several international organizations to strengthen the effects of this approach.
The EU ambassador in Morocco, Patricia Llombart Cussac, emphasized the importance of “Wafira” as a liberation of legal and decent migration and at the same time emphasized its role in the financial strengthening of the beneficiaries. The EU aims to expand this type of initiative to other countries based on the achievements of Moroccan European cooperation in relation to mobility and training.
“Wafira”, financed by the EU and implemented with Moroccan and Spanish institutions, has established itself as a reference to round migration. Since its introduction, it has made it possible to train 231 women and to promote 209 income projects, which laid the basics of sustainable socio -economic integration for migrant workers.
