Ben Guerir – Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has completed her ambitious week of science today and marked a milestone on Morocco to become a leading force in global scientific innovation.
The five -day event confirmed Africa’s growing scientific skills and its creation as an independent go-getter in research and development.
The Science Week, which was held on the UM6P UM6P campus in Ben Guerir in Ben Guerir, brought together researchers, innovators and pioneers from all over Africa and beyond.
UM6P President Hicham El Habti held a rousing final speech to complete the fifth edition of the Science Week.
“What was shared during the week, the energy that was here and it was just amazing,” he said.

This year’s topic “Shaping the Future” pointed out how African scientists can work together in order to tackle the unique approaches of the continent to coping with the Africa and the global challenges.
The rich program of the event revolved around sustainable development, nutritional security, artificial intelligence, innovation and solutions that were tailored to African contexts.
This year’s week of science also managed to reflect the growing role of UM6P as a catalyst for the scientific cooperation between Pan Africans. Through its various research platforms and partnerships, the university created A network that connects researchers on the entire continent and promotes a uniquely emerging African scientific ecosystem.
From the importance of the event for Moroccan and African students, El Habti said: “We have to give our students the opportunity to share what they are working on.”
He pointed out the importance of such meetings for the design of the future of science on the entire continent.

The scientific director of the Science Week, Fouad Laroui, was satisfied with the growing importance of the event in the global scientific landscape. He argued that this approach reflects a broader trend in global science: the convergence of nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive sciences.
The edition of the next year should deal with this type of convergence and have exceeded the projects in their agenda, he announced.
