US President Donald Trump described one day after the conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “very good” one-hour call with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
Afterwards Zelensky said that he believed that “permanent peace can be achieved this year” under Trump’s leadership.
The White House of Ukraine’s White House may also have been discussed, according to the White House, although Zelensky later explained that this was only about the Russian Zaporizhzhia facility.
In contrast to Zelensky’s visit to the White House, the tone of the call seems to be in contrast to Zelensky, in which the two guides – together with the US Vice President JD Vance – were involved in a tense exchange.
Wednesday was the first time that the two men have spoken since the meeting in the Oval Office -although their teams have met in Saudi Arabia since then and have negotiated a proposed 30 -day ceasefire.
While it is supported by Ukraine and the USA, Putin rejected the proposal for a widespread break of the conflict during his telephone call with the US President on Tuesday.
During his conversation with Trump, Zelensky said that he was open to a partial ceasefire that offers the strikes for the energy infrastructure, the rail and port facilities that could be determined quickly – but the Ukrainian president warned that his country would reciprocate if Moscow violated the conditions of the armistice.
“I understand that until we agree (with Russia) until there is a corresponding document on a partial ceasefire, I think everything will fly,” he said, referring to drones and rockets.
Trump on his social media platform Truth Truth Social said that the call aims to “align Ukraine and Russia” with regard to their inquiries and needs “, and added that efforts to ceasefire were up to date.
In a more detailed explanation, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio later said that Trump had agreed to help Ukraine with the source of additional air defense systems, especially in Europe.
The two guides have agreed to share information between their defense employees while the situation of the battlefield developed, “he said.
Rubios statement also said that Trump and Zelensky had discussed “Ukraine of the Ukraine electrical and nuclear power plants”, with Trump said: “The United States could be very helpful in order to operate these systems with their electricity and supply competence.”
“American ownership of these facilities would be the best protection for this infrastructure and support for the Ukrainian energy infrastructure,” added Rubios explanation.
Zelensky said the subject of power plants had been raised, but that they only mentioned the establishment of Zaporizhzhia.
The developments for Zelensky, who described his conversation with Trump as “positive”, “Frank” and “very substantial”, will be “positive”, “Frank” and “very substantial” during an online briefing on Wednesday.
“We believe that this year together with America, President Trump and under American leadership, permanent peace can be achieved,” he wrote about X.
During the video call with reporters, Zelensky said that he would believe that Putin would not agree to a full ceasefire, while the Ukrainian troops in the western Course region of Russia remained after Kyiv launched a surprise attack on the region in August last year.
While both Zelensky and Putin said they would be ready to stop attacks on the energy infrastructure. However, both have accused themselves of continued attacks since then.
Trump said that the call on Wednesday with Zelensky took about an hour.
“A large part of the discussion was based on yesterday’s call with President Putin to align both Russia and Ukraine with regard to their inquiries and needs,” he wrote about the social truth.
Technical teams from Ukraine and the USA will now meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
In the past month in the White House, Trump said to Zelensky that he was not grateful enough for the US and political support and he would “play with the Third World War”.
The United States then temporarily exposed military help and secret services with Ukraine, but diplomats were able to improve relationships, and on March 11, the two sides approved a ceasefire.
During his call to Trump on Tuesday, Putin declared that Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
But he said that a complete ceasefire would only work if the supporters of Ukraine stop doing military help – a condition that Kyiv’s European allies previously rejected.
Hours later, both Ukraine and Russia attacked, and Kyiv said that hospitals had been targeted.
Officials in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar said that a Ukrainian drone attack triggered a small fire in an oil depot.
Despite the strikes, Kyiv and Moscow carried out an exchange of prisoners on Wednesday. Each page left 175 prisoners of war.
Zelensky described the Swap as “one of the largest” and added that Russia contained an additional 22 “badly wounded” soldiers.
