Trump says he will meet Putin in Alaska next Friday

US President Donald Trump said that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next Friday to discuss the war in Ukraine, a potential breakthrough after weeks in which he was frustrated that more was done to suppress the fights.

The Kremlin has not yet confirmed the details that Trump has announced on social media, but both nations had expected that a meeting could take place next week.

Such a summit may prove to be crucial in a war that began more than three years ago when Russia entered its western neighbor and led to tens of thousands of deaths – although there is no guarantee, he will stop the fights because Moscow and Kyiv remain far apart.

In comments on reporters of the White House before his contribution, in which the date and location were confirmed, Trump suggested that an agreement would probably include “part of the exchange of territories”, but it did not indicate any details. Analysts, including some near the Kremlin, have suggested that Russia could offer areas that control it outside the four regions that it has for annexed.

Trump said his meeting with Putin would come before a sit-down discussion about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump also agreed to meet Putin beforehand, even if the Russian guide would not meet with Zelenskyy. This fear in Europe that Ukraine could be implemented in the efforts to stop the greatest conflict of the continent since World War II.

If it happened, the meeting would be the first US Russia summit since 2021 when President Joe Biden Putin met Putin in Geneva.

Trump’s announcement that he was planning to organize one of the American opponents on US ground broke out with the expectations they would meet in a third country. The gesture gives Putin validation after the United States and its allies had long tried to make him a pariah over his war against Ukraine.

At the beginning of Putin’s term of office, he met his US colleagues regularly. This fell off and the sound became an Icier when the tensions between Russia and the west installed after Moscow illegally annexed the crime penule of Ukraine in 2014 and interfered against the interference in the US elections in 2016.

Putin’s last visit to the United States was in 2015 when he took part in the UN General Assembly in New York.

Trump increased his ultimatum almost two weeks ago to impose additional sanctions on Russia and to introduce secondary tariffs to countries that buy Russian oil if the Kremlin does not get into a settlement.

The deadline was Friday. However, the White House did not answer any questions this evening after the condition of possible sanctions after Trump’s announcement of an upcoming meeting with Putin.

Before Trump announced the meeting with Putin, his efforts to suppress Russia had no progress. The greater army of the Kremlin slowly rises deeper into Ukraine in troops and armor while tirelessly bombing the Ukrainian cities.

Intensive fights continue

Ukraine has a significant lack of workers.

In the northern border region of the Ukrainian North Sumy, there are also intensive fights in which Ukrainian armed forces include Russian soldiers to prevent reinforcements from there to Donetsk.

Putin makes calls

The Kremlin said on Friday that Putin had a call with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping, in which he informed Xi about the results of his meeting at the beginning of this week with Trump envoy Steve Witkoff. Kremlin officials said that XI had “expressed long-term support for the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis”.

Putin will visit China next month. He recently had phone calls with the leaders of South Africa, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus, said the Kremlin.

The calls suggested at least one analyst that Putin might want to determine the most important allies of Russia about a potential settlement that could be reached on a summit with Trump.

“It means that a kind of real peace agreement has been hit for the first time,” said Sergei Markov, a Pro-Kremlin-Moscow analyst.

On Thursday, the Institute for Studying the War, a Think Tank in Washington, said in an assessment that “Putin is not interested in ending his war and trying to extract bilateral concessions from the United States without sensibly participating in a peace process.”

“Putin continues to believe that the time is on Russia’s side and that Russia can survive Ukraine and the West,” it said.
