Rabat -US President Donald Trump has appointed Duke Buchan III as the new US ambassador in Morocco and confirmed his role in strengthening Diplomatic ties Between the two nations.
“I am pleased to be able to tell you that Duke Buchan III will act as a US ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco,” Trump wrote in his social media platform Truth Social.
“Duke will play a key role if we strengthen peace, freedom and prosperity for both countries,” he added.
Duke Buchan III was the US ambassador in Spain and Andorra in the First Trump Administration, a position that he held from 2017 to 2021.
A businessman and diplomat worked as a US ambassador in Spain and Andorra from 2017 to 2021.
The newly appointed ambassador was born on July 3, 1963 in North Carolina and has a comprehensive background in investments and finances.
He studied at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1985 and in 1985 acquired a bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish before receiving an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1991.
During his academic career, he took part in an international exchange program from 1983 to 1984 that studied at the University of Seville in Spain.
Buchan built a successful career in the investment, which is due to his strong interest in the financial markets. He is the founder of Hunter Global Investors, a company specializing in assets and international investments.
His appointment comes at a time of closing Cooperation Between the United States and Morocco, especially in the areas of security, trade and investments.
