Morocco welcomed a record number of tourists in 2024 (17.4 million) and revenues are expected to exceed DH 110 billion, according to figures presented on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 in the House of Representatives, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and solidarity economy were announced, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
During a meeting of the Productive Sectors Commission, dedicated to considering issues related to the tourism sector, it pointed out that the number of tourists increased by 20% last year, which strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a leading tourist destination in Consolidate Africa. According to the authority, the sector currently employs 827,000 people, with 25,000 new jobs created in a year.
These results were achieved thanks to the measures taken in accordance with the High Royal Directives, in particular the contingency plan of DH2 billion, as well as the development of a new roadmap for the tourism sector with a budget of DH6.1 billion, Ammor noted.
Regarding the “Cap Hospitality” program, which is part of Morocco’s preparations to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, the minister stressed that it aims to accelerate the modernization of classified tourist accommodation with the aim of renovation 25,000 rooms thanks to an investment of DH2 billion.
