Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will be out for two weeks after suffering a concussion in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg win over Liverpool.

Bentancur fell awkwardly attempting a header from a corner and the game was delayed while he received treatment on the pitch.

He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and observed in hospital, but manager Ange Postecoglou says he will be fine to return after a spell on the sidelines.

“It looks like a concussion, but nothing more. He was obviously in hospital and they did all the tests to make sure everything was OK,” Postecoglou said ahead of his side’s FA Cup third round game at non-league club Tamworth.

“And everything is fine. He’s back home. He’s fine. He feels good.

“We will of course now adhere to the protocols. I think it’s a couple of weeks to make sure everything is OK.”

Bentancur will miss the Premier League trip to rivals Arsenal and the game against Everton next week, but could return for the Europa League game against Hoffenheim on January 23.

“It was stressful, but I thought the boys handled it well and our medical team handled it well and, like I said, luckily everything was fine,” Postecoglou added.

Tottenham have not won the FA Cup since 1991.
