Tina Knowles Calls for Target to Cut DEI Programs

Knowles didn’t hold back in a since-deleted Instagram post, calling out Target for abandoning its diversity goals and following other big brands in scaling back DEI programs. Additionally, Target announced plans to backtrack on its promise to hire diverse talent and create more opportunities.

Tina Knowles made it clear that because of the retail store decision, she will keep her coins and shop elsewhere.

“So Yal bowed and kissed the ring, huh. I’m checking you off my list! No more goal!” Tina wrote.

Target addresses decision to roll back DEI programs

Target commented on its decision to scale back DEI initiatives in a statement on Friday, January 24th. The company announced plans to complete its three-year diversity, equity and inclusion goals.

CNN reports that Target has announced plans to withdraw from all external diversity-focused surveys, including one from the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ advocacy group. The company also mentioned that it is reevaluating corporate partnerships and transitioning its supplier diversity team to supplier engagement. Although the full impact of these moves is not yet clear, the company emphasized its continued commitment to promoting inclusion and creating a sense of belonging for employees and customers.
