Practically every flagship phone can take a great picture. But that did not prevent Xiaomi from continuing his partnership with the legendary camera manufacturer Leica to produce a photo power package in the new Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Driven by a Snapdragon 8 elite chip with up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage space, it goes without saying that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has first-class specifications. It also has a huge 6,000 -MAH -AKKU that is larger than anything you get from Apple, Google or Samsung. In the meantime, the wire speeds are 90 watts or only a little slower at 80 watt -wireless, which is not a common task when it comes to charging processes. And in contrast to most telephones sold in the USA, it is delivered with a power adapter in the box.
Elsewhere, the 15 Ultra has a beautiful 6.7-inch amoled display with 1-120 Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits brightness. It is also available in three colors: a white model with an etched back, black with an almost rubber -like structured finish and a special silver chrome output, which is inspired by some of Leica’s old cameras. I appreciate that the white model that I tested, subtle extension in the back that shines in sunlight. But let’s be honest that two -color metal and black is the most attractive of the bunch because it really bends to what this phone can do best.
In the back there is a massive circular camera module, of which I am usually not a big fan when I am used on competing devices such as this OnePlus 13. However, it is more than just a showpiece on this device, as there is a serious photo hardware inside. The 23 mm equivalent main camera from Ultra 15 uses a massive Sony sensor of 1 inch 50 megapixels. Then there is a 1: 2.2 50 MP Ultrawide camera for things like expansive landscapes. But it does not stop here because there is not just one but two zoom lenses: a 50-megapixel mid-range shooters with a 70 mm focal length plus a super high-resolution periscope array with a focal length of 100 mm (which corresponds to an optical zoom of 4.7x).
Now I haven’t had much time to fully punished it, but after what I have seen so far, Xiaomi Ultra 15 has one of the best rounded photo tool kits. It has Leica Optics together with large sensors and objective ones that cover pretty much any focal length that you need every day. On the software side there are some preset Leica filters such as alive or authentic to really bring the collaboration between the two brands home.
One of the things that impresses me the most is that Xiaomi has even created a separate photo that contains an add-on camera handle with a physical trigger, an adjustable dial and a dedicated video button. There is also a case with which you can attach a standard -67 -mm filter adapter. Suppose you have the right equipment, you can take some of the same glass you use on your real camera and use you with the Ultra 15. And this is not only a half -hearted thinking, since the kit is also equipped with bonuses such as a hand belt, a decorative lens ring and two different caps for its closure.
In contrast to some Chinese phones such as those of Huawei, Xiaomi phones still have access to Google services so that you can download apps from the Play Store. Even the Hyperos 2 of the company is a relatively minimalist Android skin that looks good and is easy to use. And while this model will be available worldwide from around € 850, there are unfortunately no official plans to bring it to the United States, which is a real shame because nobody really sells cell phones in America anymore. ((Rip to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1.)))
