The Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller is available for $98

If you’re looking for a new controller, you’re in luck. Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller is for sale for $98 at Amazon And Goaldown from $130. That means it’s about $3 less than the previous lowest price – a great opportunity to upgrade to something nicer.

We recommended this Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller before, and that’s largely based on its ability to give you the most out of the $180 price tag Xbox Elite Series 2 Controllers at a cheaper price. These include fits and finishes like a rubberized grip and sturdier, more durable versions of a traditional controller’s triggers, joysticks and D-pad (now round). In addition, it has a battery life of up to 40 hours.

The Elite Series 2 Core also lets you adjust the tension of the joysticks and triggers to your liking and remap the controller’s buttons in the Xbox Accessories app. This is helpful if you prefer certain settings Call of Duty: Warzone as opposed to something more relaxing, such as Long live Piñata, or if you share your controller with someone else.

The main downside to the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller, aside from the limited color options you have when purchasing outside of the Xbox Design Lab, is the lack of accessories. Included in the price of a regular Xbox Elite Series 2 controller are various joysticks, directional pads, and back paddles that you can attach when you want to experiment with a new setup. These are not included in the core controller at all. In fact, there are awkward indentations on the back of the controller where the paddles are supposed to attach.

Overall, it’s a minor annoyance that can be remedied by purchasing the accessory when you realize you actually need it later. Even without paddles, using the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller should feel noticeably more comfortable, and if you’re trying to fight your way through an overly long role-playing game, that’s what matters anyway.
