Shortly before the 2024 US election, the Collins Dictionary chose “brat” as the word of the year. The publisher defined it as “characterized by a confident, independent and hedonistic attitude.” Not coincidentally, it was also the name of a chart-topper that Charli XCX released in June 2024.
