Rabat – The Oceanlove Innovation Award has announced its edition of 2025, in which innovators are asked to present ideas for marine protection worldwide. This includes products, tools, campaigns or initiatives that can make a real difference in the preservation of sea life and ecosystems.
Under the slogan “Because they protect what they love”, the award encourages individuals to take measures to protect the ocean. The nomination period lasts from April 1 to September 30, the organizers said in a press release.
The award asked the applicants to submit their ideas on the Oceanlove websiteAnd the winners will be announced on November 4 during the Oceanlove Innovation Award.
The Oceanlove Innovation Award was approved by the United Nations of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development by the decade of the United Nations.
In 2024 the Moroccan environmentalist Saad Abid was won The award with his project Chbika, a tool that has covered the micro waste of beaches. He received 10,000 euros in chalk money to further develop his project.
“The seed money and the PR have delivered a big boost to my idea, and now Oceanlove also arranged an entire laboratory with technical engineers from their partner engine marine to continue!” Noticed Abid.
The organizers found that Chbika is an effective and simple solution for local communities and environmental organizations. The awareness of the pollution of the oceans is also sharpened.
Abid has jury jury for the 2025 edition and is a special ambassador for Oceanlove.
A team of expert judges, including scientists, activists and social entrepreneurs, will check all submissions based on “originality, effects, reach and feasibility”, added the explanation.
Up to 30 of the best ideas are selected for an online boat camp, in which the participants receive support to improve their projects.
After the boot camp, the judges choose the last winners who receive up to 10,000 euros in seed money to bring their projects to life. In addition, the winners receive PR support and expert instructions.
