This is an excellent book that I recently read about Matt Tenney. The title and the message of the book are reminiscent of Thich Nhat Hanh’s classic The miracle of mindfulness. The magic or the miracle happens when you spend more time to give 100% on what you are currently doing. In this way, they spend less time to worry about the future or to revive painful moments from the past and more time in the present. This is something that I have been working on for some time, but it is admittedly difficult to do regularly.
This book gave me the motivation to try more. In the beginning there is an amazing story in which Matt discovered this. He had made a bad judgment that led him to a very stressful place (he tried to commit fraud and ended up in prison). After a few years, he noticed that instead of thinking how bad his situation was when he only gave full attention when he brushed his teeth, he felt much better. The same thing happened when walking or other routine activities. He decided to try this all the time and to be essentially in prison again to be almost a long withdrawal. Since then he has spent his life serving others and passing on this message.
Can those of us, whose daily life is not as bad as in prison, do the same change? It’s worth a try!
