Rabat – The Moroccan Human Rights Council (CNDH) started a special program internationally at the current 30th Book and publishing fair in Rabat to celebrate the role of culture and cultural expressions in promoting development and human rights.
For 10 days, the human rights pavilion (A24) will bring over 100 writers, artists, human rights defenders, experts, academics and actors from civil society from Morocco and abroad, said, said, said Cndh in a press release.
The program also contains the participation of 250 children from the 12 regions of Morocco, each bringing a unique cultural expression from their community.
The program “Culture and Cultural Expression: Driver for Development and Human Rights” contains 70 activities, including workshops, panel discussions and creative sessions that are distributed over five main rooms within the pavilion.
This includes a room for children’s voices and cultural expressions, one for letters and human rights and another for artistic and creative expression. The pavilion also contains a room for discussions and conferences as well as another for new book publications and publications.
The Council found that all activities are inclusive and accessible and describe the human rights pavilion as an inviting space for everyone at the entire fair.
For CNDH President Amina Bouayach, the fair is a celebration of the rich and diverse Moroccan culture.
“Culture is neither a luxury for the elite nor something that remains in museums. It is a lively memory and a continuous dialogue between past, present and the future,” added Bouayach.
She explained that cultural rights had to be protected and promoted, and added that the many cultural forms of expression of Morocco, whether Arabic-Islamic, Amazigh, Hassani Saharan, Jews, Mediterranean or Africans, play an important role in strengthening social cooperation, promoting diversity and encouragement of mutual respect.
“This undoubtedly contributes to promoting respect for the rights of all, improves memory and the protection of the right to identity and dignity,” remarked Bouayach.
CNDH invited visitors to all ages to visit and find out his pavilion and find out how culture connects people and contributes to the establishment of a more integrative and right-wing reaction society.
The Rabat Buchmesse, which runs from April 18 to 27, combines hundreds of exhibitors from all over the world to present over 100,000 titles in various literary, academic and cultural genres.
