The former midfielder of Arsenal, Thomas Partey, was charged with five rape cases, the British police said on Friday.
Party was also charged with a number of sexual attacks, whereby the alleged crimes take place between 2021 and 22.
Party lawyer Jenny Wiltshire told the British press association that he “denies all the charges against him” and added: “He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clarify his name.”
The 32-year-old Party is a free agent after his arsenal contract expired at the end of last season. In 2020 he joined the Premier League club for £ 45.3 million ($ 61.8 million) of the Spanish team Atletico Madrid. The police said the investigation was opened in February 2022 when it received a rape report for the first time. The five rape fees refer to two different women. The indictment of sexual assault refers to a third woman. “Our priority continues to provide women who have registered,” said Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy from Metropolitan Police.
Party is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, August 5, at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
