Even after all the years, Buffy the Vampire Slayer The fans have difficulty describing the chill-beyond chill Sunnydale musician by Seth Green. It is not difficult to understand why. Oz ‘personality is complete Unlike that of the other scoobies, and outsider demon characters such as Anya and Spike seemed better to fit the gang better than the distant OZ that ever existed. However, as it turns out, the script for the festival takes Buffy Episode “Inca Mama Girl” explain Oz ‘character perfectly by finding that Oz “has the kind of cool that is completely not aware of it”.
Oz explain

This Buffy Scarding notes help to explain some of the apparent paradoxes of OZ ‘character, including the fact that his sarcasm – a very defined character feature – was never particularly cruel. According to the script “there is a quiet reluctance and a complete lack of bitterness (OZ) sarcasm.” This may be the most clear when you compare this Wolfy Wunderkind with sarcastic characters like Cordelia and Spike, who always use their own acidic cheerfulness to hit people around them.
Incidentally, Cordelia served as an OZ ‘counterpart in the first three seasons Buffy By offering really mean sarcasm, in contrast to his gentle ridicule. When she left Sunnydale after the third season, the show brought Anya and Spike to bring the show’s sarcasm to the next stage. Unfortunately, the unexpected departure from OZ in season 4 meant that the additional meanness no longer had any counterweight.
His debut Buffy The script notes of the episode continue to explain Oz ‘character by comparing him to one of his fellow musicians: “Where Devon is her typical excited skirt and scooter, OZ is completely steadfast.” This is certainly evident through all the wild things that OZ takes in step, including the existence of vampires and the fact that he is now a werewolf. Buffy Of course, most things play for laughter, but the truth is that OZ can withstand things that would break the brains of most residents of Sunnydale, and all without getting angry or anxious.

That brings us into the final note in this Buffy Screenplay about Oz ‘character: “Its is the kind of cool that is completely not aware of itself.” As a long -time fan, this was the line that Oz’s whole deal really explained to me. In another show or another film, OZ would be a self -confident cool character like Jeff Winger On Community. While Jeff’s ego forces him to always be the focus of attention, OZ has a zen -like calm that helps him to integrate himself into every situation or group.
For Buffy Fans, this is simply a further proof that Oz ‘character like Buffy, Willow and so many others in the television landscape is relatively unique. No other show (genre or in other ways) managed to dethones with a new character, which is acerbian sarcastic, charismatically cool and ultimately steadfast. Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer Never really try to replace OZ, which is why other characters who entered his former Scooby Sidekick role (like the ANYA and Spike mentioned above) had completely different personalities.
Some Buffy Fanatics may find these notes about Oz ‘character a bit obvious, but I thought they were a fascinating insight into the mysterious (and imperative mysterious) characters of the show. From the beginning, OZ was written as a kind of paradox: a guy who is sarcastic without being snarky, cool, without being cruel, and knew how hip he really was. And if we are all very happy, the light of the next full moon could all make us half as cold as Sunnydales Wolfendstost rocker.
