While you will never have the name recognition of the Amazon Kindle, e-ink devices from the Chinese tech company Onyx International-sold under the somewhat silly “BOOX” brand name and receive three of its e-readers and digital notebooks last year, and I am a big fan. And if you read this article, you are probably (or soon).
I love BOOX devices not only because they are well built and fully equipped (although they want more of my thoughts there, read my assessments of the Boox PalmaPresent Note MaxAnd Note Air 4c). I can’t get enough of your adaptability either. Nothing makes me crazy than trying to do something easy with a device just to be hindered due to the blocked software that doesn’t want to allow me. From side charging books to a Kindle to Tun-Nun, basically everything that is done on an iPad, large companies seem to be determined to only do what to do with my devices.
BOOX devices are different: they run on an open version of Android, with which you can do pretty much anything you want. You can download any app from the Google Play Store so that you are not tied to an e-reading platform. If you want to discard apps, feel free: put the device into your laptop and it is installed directly on the desktop. If you are really ambitious, you can even install your own launcher to completely change things.
Although all of this freedom is beautiful, this also means that BOOX devices have a slightly more learning curve than, for example, a plug-and-lead child. So if you are the new owner of one of these fantastic devices-an e-reader or a full digital notebook-Sind, four settings that you should change immediately to get the best out of it.
Set a one-touch update
Like any e-link tablet, boox devices occasionally suffer “ghosting” or visible follow-up pictures as soon as you have shot a page. While the device automatically updates according to a certain number of taps (basically touched), I am happy to set up a one-touch update that I can trigger whenever I want. Depending on your device, there are some ways to do this: a button or gesture.

If you have a BOOX PALMA or another device with side turn/volume buttons, you can assign one of you to a screen update. For the Palma, it makes most sense to use the Smart key – this is the button on the left side of the device, which enables different things based on whether you press it twice or hold it down. On my own device I have assigned a manual update to a single smart button because it is what I do most frequently (this, or to return to the start screen, which is another of the many options that you can choose). Nevertheless, you can also assign an update to the volume buttons if you want (although I prefer them for side environments).
Open the settings app to redesign your Smart key and tap Smart button. Tap your preferred option (Short pressure functionPresent Double -click on functionor Long pressure function) and select Full of refresh.

Not all BOOX devices have buttons. If yours do not, you have to map a manual update of a gesture. (If you want, you can do this on the Palma.)
Open Settings to start and scroll down System navigation. Under Soil navigationknock Further settings. Select the area of
Select your cloud storage option
Boox devices usually have a generous memory on board, but you will get more out of it by linking your preferred cloud storage service to the system level. In this way you can move files on and out of the device without keeping them on your computer.
To start open SettingsThen Accounts. Knock In the library to the Cloud memory in the libraryThen select your preferred option from the list. You have a number of options, including Dropbox and Google Drive. Tap the one you want and then register.
Manage your sleep settings (when you hear audiobooks)

To use my phone less, I also moved my audio books to my palma (the 128 GB of memory is useful here). However, I was initially frustrated with the device as an audio player because I used a protective cover and every time I was closed, falling asleep and turning off my audio. I tried to get it into a pocket, whereby the cover was overridden without accidentally touching the screen.
Then I found that there was a setting to fix this. Open the settings, scroll down to display it, and ten switch off switching for sleep or wake up the device with the protective cover. Now your audio will continue to play after closing the cover and put it in your pocket. Yay!
While you are there, you may also want to switch off the automatic sleep option because the device does not always seem to know whether you play audio in the background and switch off yourself if you have no longer touched it in a while. Open settings and tap on electricity, then sleep automatically. You can select options between 3 minutes and an hour. (If you “never” decide, the operating system warns you that this reduces the battery life. However, if you do not use WLAN or Bluetooth and have excited the front light, this will not really make much difference, since e-link screens only apply electricity when refreshing.)
Change your lock screen and your screen saver

BOOX devices have some nice presetting pictures, but if you want to make the device your own, you can set your own screen saver and wallpaper. This is quite uncomplicated: Select Desktop & Screensaver in the settings app – But if you want a custom image, you must first save it to the right place.
The easiest way to do this is to find a picture that you like while searching your BOOX device on the Internet. Press it for a long time and select DownloadSo that it (of course) saves it in your download. Next, open the gallery App, tap your download folder and then on the desired picture. Type more in the lower right and then set them as. You can determine it as the Screen saverThe wallpaperor the Power-off picture.
Alternatively, you can connect the device to a computer and manually add the images to your Pictures Folder. From there you can change your wallpaper as described above or only press long on the start screen and select them wallpaper Symbol at the bottom right; knock Local To find pictures stored in your picture folder. (And here is another helpful note: If you want to create your own wallpaper image in Photoshop or Canva, the dimensions 824×1648 for the BOOX Palma are.
