Rabat – The police in the Tangier City Hafen successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 64,080 drug pills late on Sunday evening.
They arrested three suspects, a couple and their son between the ages of 22 and 54 because they were involved in an international drug trade network.
According to a security source, the suspects were arrested as soon as they arrived in a ferry from a European port.
The authorities searched their vehicle and found 64,080 drug pills hidden inside. This included 50,880 rivotril pills and 13,200 trankimazine pills.
The suspects were examined by the Tangier police under the supervision of the public prosecutor. The authorities want to uncover further details about this case and identify all other people involved in the drug network.
The operation is part of the continuing efforts of DGSN to combat international drug trafficking and prevent the spread of illegal substances.

The operation took place thanks to the precise intelligence of the General Directorate for Territorial Monitoring (DGSt). The police caught the two suspects in a small car with the pills and a sum of money, of which they assumed that they have a proceeds from their illegal activities.
