Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have reportedly made inquiries regarding a loan deal for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

The Athletic claim the two clubs have been in contact with United to find out what financial package would be required to remove Rashford from Old Trafford.

United are believed to be prepared to either sell or loan Rashford this month in a bid to free the player, who is believed to earn more than £325,000 a week, from the wage bill.

The 27-year-old recently said he was “ready for a new challenge”, suggesting his time at United could soon be coming to an end.

The Sun also claimed he had held talks with Stellar Sports Agency – they helped facilitate Gareth Bale’s £86million move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2013 – in an attempt to fast-track a move.

Rashford remains a tempting candidate for foreign clubs, despite a largely miserable 18 months and failing to recapture the form that saw him score 30 goals in all competitions in the 2022/23 season.

The player also made headlines for off-field indiscretions and was accused of a lack of commitment.

Dortmund are well placed to sign players from United in the January window, having signed winger Jadon Sancho on loan this time last year.

Sancho performed well in the Bundesliga and secured a move to Chelsea in the summer.
