The British health giant HCRG Care Group has confirmed that an incident with cyber security was examined after a ransomware gang has claimed to have violated the company’s systems against the constant debris.
The HCRG Care Group is one of the largest independent providers of Community Health and Care Services in Great Britain. The organization, which is previously known as Virgin Care and is now in possession of Twenty20 Capita, works with National Health Service Trusts and local authorities across Great Britain to provide health services, including emergency care, sexual health and social care for adults and children.
HCRG was listed this week on the Dark Web Leak site of the productive Medusa Ransomware Group, which claims to affect the company to steal more than two data from data.
Examples of the allegedly stolen data divided by Medusa and seen by Techcrunch seem to contain the personal data of the employees, sensitive medical records, financial documents and documents of state identification such as passports and birth certificates.
The HCRG spokesman Alison Klabacher informed Techcrunch in an e -mail declaration that the company “currently examines an IT security incident” and “recently identified a contribution on the dark web from a group that takes responsibility”.
The company rejected it to say which types of data were accessed, but did not deny Medusa’s claims. HCRG also declined how many people are affected. According to the company’s website, HCRG has more than 5,000 employees and delivers health services to half a million patients throughout the United Kingdom.
“Our team has not observed suspicious activities since the introduction of immediate contamination measures, and we work with external forensic specialists to examine the incident, said the spokesman.
HCRG said it informed the British information commissioner’s office and other supervisory authorities about the violation.
“Our services continue to work and see patients safely, and people with appointments or access to our services must continue to do so,” said the company.
The Medusa Ransomware group threatens to publish the allegedly stolen data, unless HCRG pays the gang a ransom demand of 2 million US dollars.
HCRG would not confirm how it was affected, but Medusa is known for this Unpatched weaknesses in the remote desktop software.
