Rabat – On Friday, an unploded bomb was discovered in the First World War near Paris’ Gare Du Nord -Bahnhof, which led to considerable tensile cancellations and evacuations. The bomb was later determined today, local media reported.
With a weight of around 500 kg, the bomb was found two meters deep on a construction site near the train station. This discovery led to the cancellation of trains to and from the train station.
The French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said that all Eurostar trains were canceled by the end of the day. Local rail traffic should normalize from 5:00 p.m. and the normal train services are expected to be resumed on Saturday.
The police evacuated 200 people from nearby houses in the suburb of Saint-Denis. Parts of the local ring road and the A1 motorway were temporarily closed due to the security measures. The authorities said, even though there were schools in the area and a care facility, nobody was in danger because the buildings were not the place where the bomb was found.
As a precaution, Eurostar terminated all 32 services between London and Paris. The company said that the rejection of trains was the best way to avoid confusion for passengers.
“Due to the discovery of an unexploded bomb from the Second World War near Paris Gare Du Nord, rail traffic was suspended to/out of Paris” said.
