As the 2024-25 Premier League season approaches its halfway point, fans have been treated to a spectacle of exceptional performances, stunning goals and unforgettable games.
At the top of the table, Liverpool are at the top, closely followed by Chelsea and Arsenal.
Champions Manchester City are in their worst ever spell under Pep Guardiola, meaning the title will most likely change hands in May.
It’s been a season to forget so far for Southampton, who sit at the bottom of the table with just six points and one win.

Player of the season: Mohamed Salah
Liverpool’s talisman and star of the season, Mohamed Salah, has been in scintillating form this season.
He made history on Sunday by becoming the first player to score double figures in both goals and assists in a single Premier League season before Christmas.
In Liverpool’s convincing 6-3 win over Tottenham, the Egyptian provided his tenth assist and scored two goals, taking his tally for the season to 13 goals.
This success also saw him surpass Liverpool legend Billy Liddell and make Salah the club’s fourth all-time top scorer with 229 goals.
He also overtook Thierry Henry’s Premier League tally in four fewer games and scored his 103rd assist, ten more than the Frenchman.
It’s no surprise that he’s receiving a lot of praise as the new year begins.

Honorable Mentions: Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka continues to impress with his versatility and creativity and has been instrumental in helping Mikel Arteta’s men stay in the title race.
His recent hamstring injury will be a major concern, especially if he is sidelined for a similar length of time to Martin Odegaard, who missed a number of crucial games at the start of the season due to Arsenal’s decline in form.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was once again a revelation, delivering standout performances that drew comparisons to legends of the game.
His ability to dictate play and his goal threat were crucial to Chelsea’s strong position in the league under Enzo Maresca, although most fans and pundits wrote them off before the start of the season.

There have been a number of brilliant goals so far this season, but one stands out from the crowd.
Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran scored a sensational goal against Everton that left fans and pundits in awe.
Duran collected the ball near the halfway line and showed his pace and power by dribbling past several defenders before unleashing a thunderous shot from outside the box into the top corner.
His impact off the bench for Villa has now earned him a starting place, putting Ollie Watkins on the bench in recent weeks and keeping him there thanks to his remarkable consistency in front of goal.
Honorable Mentions: James Justin and Harvey Barnes
Leicester City’s James Justin scored a remarkable goal against Arsenal that deserves a mention.
The defender shot inside from the left before curling a great shot into the far corner.
Similarly, Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes scored a similar right-footed shot against Wolves, showing exceptional technique and precision and proving to Eddie Howe that he perhaps deserves more minutes than he gets.

The clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool was a nine-goal thriller that proved why so many consider the Premier League to be the best in the world.
Liverpool’s attacking quartet were in devastating form, with Salah and Luis Diaz scoring twice each.
Despite Tottenham’s all-out attacking approach, Liverpool’s relentless aggression helped them to a memorable 6-3 win, cementing their position at the top of the league.
Honorable mentions: Tottenham Hotspur 3-4 Chelsea and Newcastle United 3-3 Liverpool
Tottenham’s 3-4 loss to Chelsea was another exciting encounter, with both teams exchanging leads in a game full of attacking power, which is no surprise for Ange Posteoclgou’s men at this point.
Newcastle’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool was a thrilling game, with late goals providing some of the spoils in a thrilling contest, and is also worth a mention.

Premier League winners:
Based on their current form, Liverpool are favorites to win the Premier League title.
Their attacking depth and Salah’s brilliance could see them overtake their rivals heading into 2025.
However, of the last five games in which Liverpool were top at Christmas, they only managed to win the title once.
Arsenal had been at the top in each of the previous two seasons but failed to lift the trophy.

Relegation candidates:
The battle for relegation is an interesting one as newly promoted Ipswich Town and Southampton struggle to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
Leicester also face their challenges, with defensive weaknesses contributing to their precarious situation. However, the fans will support Ruud van Nistelrooy to change their fate.
Wolves are in a similar position, but a 3-0 win at the weekend could be the spark they need to climb out of the drop zone.
Domestic cup winners:
- FA Cup: With the third round about to begin, the FA Cup is up for grabs. Manchester United are always hoping for a run, while the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool are all betting on themselves.
- EFL Cup: Liverpool are strong favorites to win the League Cup, but with Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle alongside them in the semi-finals, it really is anyone’s game.
