The Belgian general praises Morocco as a key player in combating Sahel terrorism threats

Rabat – Morocco’s officer capacities of fighting terrorism continue to attract international confirmations.

The strategic advisor of the General Commissioner of the Belgian Federal Police Saad Amrani described the know -how of the North African country in combating terrorist threats as “unique and distinctive”, especially in view of growing challenges from the Sahel region.

Amrani described Morocco’s approach to fighting terrorism than the most effective worldwide and combines a careful balance between judicial, social and religious elements.

His comments come after the recent successful operation by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) in Morocco, which thwarted a “very dangerous” terrorist conspiracy in order to undermine the stability of the country.

The operation demonstrated Morocco’s sophisticated intelligence capabilities and led to the fact that a terrorist plan was orchestrated by a prominent ISIS leader in the Sahel region.

The examination of the BCIJ showed a logistical base for weapons and ammunition in a mountainous area for the terrorist cell.

Bian confiscated Firearms, including two Kalashnikov rifles, two shotguns, ten individual handguns of different types, a large amount of cartridges and ammunition from different calibers.

Amrani noticed: “In contrast to some countries, Morocco has addressed the religious aspect of fighting terrorism with intelligence and depth.”

The efforts to fight terrorism in Morocco are particularly important in view of the increasing terrorist activities in the Sahel region.

According to the global terrorism index, 48 percent of global terrorist attacks happen In the Sahel zone, the Morocco positioned on the front of this security challenge due to its geographical location.

Morocco’s success lies in its development of precise knowledge of terrorist movements and respected analytical skills.

“The collection, processing and exchange of information are decisive elements of this type of approach,” added Amrani, pointing out that Moroccan agencies “cleverly managed the challenge of the exchange of information and achieve tangible results”.

The know -how in Morocco has become increasingly invaluable for international security cooperation. In view of his unique experience in successfully dealing with terrorist threats, Amrani emphasized how important Morocco shares with other countries, especially European nations, the lessons of his model.

The continuing threat in the Sahel zone is still considerable, although radical ideological stories continue to serve as main instruments for terrorist groups in order to expand their operational reach.

“The radical ideological offer remains and supports terrorist movements together with other factors and enables their spread in various operational theaters,” warned Amrani.

BCIJ’s most recent operation led to the arrest of 12 suspects between 18 and 40 in simultaneous operations in the cities of Laayoune, Casablanca, Fez, Taza, Tanger, Azzemour, Oulad Teima and Tamsna on the outskirts of Rabat.

Since the Sahel region is confronted with increasing security challenges, the comprehensive strategy for fighting terrorism of Morocco, which combines security measures with social and religious approaches, offers valuable insights into global efforts to combat extremism.

Amrani concluded with a caution: “In our response to these threats, we have to remain vigilant and quick.”
