There are so many wonderful TVs out there now that there’s a good chance that even the ones that didn’t make our top picks could be a fantastic option for you. Here are some of our favorites that narrowly missed the cut.

TCL Q6 (2024): This affordable model from TCL has some of the most impressive highlights I’ve seen on a budget TV without the hassle of local dimming. I really like how good the colors are, especially when looking at modern classics dune or Mad Max Fury Road. A built-in Google interface makes streaming and streaming a breeze, and TCL has a long history of making durable screens at moderate prices, so you don’t have to cross your fingers too much when purchasing.

Sony Bravia 7: The Bravia 7 (7/10, WIRED recommends) is a beautiful display that offers brilliant brightness, natural colors and gentle finesse in the subtle details. The biggest downside is poor off-axis visibility, which might be difficult to overcome given the high list price. Otherwise, it’s worth considering for fans of Sony’s glory, especially since Sony appears to be uncharacteristically discounting several model sizes.

TCL QM7: There is only one thing to do to maintain the wonderfully balanced QM7 (6/10, WIRED Reviewed) removed from our main list: a software error. During my testing, I noticed an issue where SDR backlight adjustment affected HDR, which can result in significant brightness limitations. While TCL fixed the issue for me in a firmware update, it’s not generally available yet. Most people probably won’t have this problem, so the QM7 is still worth considering, and TCL expects a major firmware update in December.

Samsung S95C: The S95C (8/10, WIRED recommends) remains a fantastic choice while available. It might even be a better option for those who don’t want or need the 2024 model’s matte screen. It’s still considered one of the best OLED TVs you can buy – especially given its extremely affordable retail price.

Samsung QN90C: Another great deal while it’s still available: Samsung’s QN90C (8/10, WIRED recommends) has long been one of our favorite TVs for bright rooms. Available in a variety of sizes, it offers a bright and colorful image as well as tons of extras – especially tempting considering the price is constantly dropping.
