London – Hundreds of masked demonstrators, on Tuesday in the Northern Irish city of Ballymena in the Northern Irish city of Ballymena, took up 17 officers in a second night of “turmoil and disorder” and, according to the police. The Northern Irish police condemned the unrest on Wednesday and said that 32 officials had been injured overall since the disorder – according to reports, was triggered by a suspected sexual assault in the city.
“The senseless violence in the last two nights in Ballymena is deeply worrying and completely unacceptable,” said Chief Constable Jon Boutcher in a statement. “Hass-powered actions and mob rule do nothing more than the structure of our society. They solve nothing and serve no one.”
At least five people were arrested overnight because four houses were damaged by fire and demonstrators, according to CBS News’ Partner Network BBC News Windows of Houses and Companies smashed.

“Police officers were stopped in their direction for several hours with several petrol bombs, heavy masonry, bricks and fireworks,” said the police service in Northern Ireland in a statement.
The protests started only a few hours after two 14-year-old boys had appeared on Monday due to the alleged sexual attack by a young girl in the city. BBC News said the boys communicated through a Romanian interpreter.
According to AFP news agency, Ballymena has a large population with a migration background.
The residents described the violence as “frightening” and said AFP that “foreigners” were targeted.

A Romanian newspaper based in Ballymena said on Tuesday Irish Times New Paper that she had put a British flag on her front window so as not to be targeted.
The Northern Irish legislator Paul Frew told BBC Radio that he feared that violence could become fatal and said that tensions in the city had increased for a while, and people were “afraid of illegal immigration”.
There was no confirmed information about the immigration status of the teenagers who had been released on Monday.
