Morocco is preparing to organize the third edition of Gitex Africa in Marrakech from April 14th to 16th at a Mega -Tech Festival, which aims to position the country and the largest continent in the world at the top of the global digital class.
The Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition in Cooperation with the Emirati Group Kanoun, the main partner of Gitex Africa Marocco, today organized a press conference in Rabat to officially announced the quickly used event.
In cooperation with Kaoun International, Gitex is organized by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
In an interview with Morocco World News, Mohamed Drissi Melyani, General Director of The Add said that Gitex Africa had positioned “Morocco and Africa as a global digital hub” in less than two years.
The event will bring startups, investors, governments and industry experts together to discuss digital innovations and development. “This exhibition is now a platform for building a networked and innovative digital Africa,” said Melyani.
According to the organizers, this year’s issue will organize 1,400 startups from 400 in their first edition. Delegates from more than 32 countries and over 600 public institutions are expected to participate.
Amal El Fallah Siehrouchni, minister delegate for the digital transition and the administrative reform, said that the event reflects the growing role of Morocco during the digital transformation. “We will welcome representatives from Arab countries, African nations and the Moroccan diaspora,” she said.
The agenda includes panel discussions, master classes and demonstrations of digital tools to modernize public administration.
Trixie Lohmirmand, CEO of Kaoun International, said: “If you examine the global digital economy, you will find that technology is your main driver. Digitization is now omnipresent – is in everything.”
Lohmirmand described the event as “the largest and most influential platform on the continent for exchange of knowledge, cooperation and the reinterpretation of the future”.
She added that Morocco’s digital strategy 2030 sets ambitious goals, including the creation of 240,000 jobs, the training of 100,000 young people and the introduction of 3,000 startups.
Visitors to Gitex have the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in technology and take part in discussions in which insiders and tycoons bounce off courageous ideas to bring Africa into a new digital era.
The organizers hope that Gitex Africa will contribute to promoting the progress in the direction of these goals by promoting innovations and investments in the digital sector.
