Suriname’s former dictator, refugee and president Desi Bouterse has died at the age of 79

Suriname’s former dictator and future president Desi Bouterse has died, the government of the former Dutch colony said on Wednesday. Bouterse came to power in a coup, resigned and fled justice for killing political opponents, and then returned to power.
