Strike and changes: Sekkouri returns to discussions with social partners


The Minister for Economic Integration, Small Company, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, underlined on Thursday in Rabat, underlined the capital of the importance of relationships between the government and the social partners. During a press conference at the end of the government council, he praised the spirit of patriotism from unions and companies, which actively participated in the debates and the change of legally, in particular in the action over the strike.

Sekkouri made it clear that most of the changes in the social partner were integrated into the law, which made it possible to improve the final text. The minister also insisted that, despite the disagreements on certain aspects of the law, striking law remains guaranteed for all employees.

With regard to the strike recently organized by several union centers, the minister stated that the participation rate in the private sector was 1.4 % and 32 % in the public sector, with higher rates in education, health and justice. He also said that the strike rate for local authorities was 26.4 % and 25.9 % in public institutions.

The minister praised the contributions of unions and companies to the economic dynamics of Morocco and emphasized their efforts to improve the provision of public services and to promote a climate of cooperation and dialogue in the interest of the country.
