When you think about it, the holidays are something of a paradox: They’re about coming together as a family, but far too many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners start with good wine and end with the worst arguments this side of Reddit. If this sounds a bit like your own vacation experience, then you’re probably longing for a time when your family could function together like normal people. For those looking to bring the family back together, there’s good news: you can stream Independence Daythe film that brought the entire country together, on Hulu today.

Independence Day is full of awesomeness

If you’ve never seen it Independence Day (on Hulu, in theaters, or somewhere in between), you should know that it has a wonderfully simple premise. When Aliens When you invade the planet and start killing people en masse, the fate of the entire world rests on the shoulders of a successful jet pilot and a quirky computer technician. But whether they succeed or not may ultimately depend on the contributions of everyone, from the inspirational U.S. president to the alcoholic Vietnam veteran.

A compelling reason to check out this creature feature is that the exceptional cast includes Will Smith as the cocky pilot and Jeff Goldblum as a top computer technician. Bill Pullman plays the president facing the greatest crisis in world history, and he plays his wife Battlestar Galactica Queen Mary McDonnell. Other memorable great actors in this film include Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spinerand Randy Quaid (in what is almost certainly the best film of his career).

Watch out Independence Day To Hulu is a great way to revisit the iconic speech Pullman’s character gives to bring the world together in the face of a common threat. In real life, the world certainly collaborated to turn this Hollywood blockbuster into a galaxy-sized hit. On a budget of just $75 million, the film grossed a staggering $817.4 million, a profit that eventually led 20th Century Fox to release a sequel that (we’re sorry to say) is basically in is inferior in every respect.

Bringing the audience together

Independence Day brought the world together before Hulu was even a spark Streaming Not only was it interesting for the manager, but it also achieved something almost impossible: it brought audiences and critics together. To Rotten tomatoesThe film has a critical score of 68 percent, with critics generally noting that the film makes up for its poor characterization with all the thrills and spectacle we expect from a great summer blockbuster. The audience popcorn meter for this film is at 75 percent, which shows that casual film fans were generally even more enthusiastic about this film than their critical colleagues.

All these years later, it’s clear that it was more than just hype that helped make this film such a monster hit. Will Smith’s charisma helps him steal every scene, and his manic energy is a perfect match for Jeff Goldblum’s knight in the nerd armor. By the way, Bill Pullman is the perfect movie president, and after combining a rousing speech with death-defying heroics, you’ll probably wish our own politicians were even half as inspiring and great.

In many ways, Pullman’s character underscores the core of the film…if you look at it again Independence Day On Hulu, you’ll be surprised to find that this film is so much more than the sum of its explosive action set pieces. Everyone remembers the iconic sight of the aliens blowing up the White House, and so it’s hard to remember that this movie is less about tearing things apart and more about putting things together. As we delve deeper into the chaos of a country divided by everything from politics to social media, this film’s vision of international unity is a fantasy we can definitely get behind.

You will find Independence Day As inspiring as I was when you streamed it on Hulu, or is it that one film that makes you want to “welcome to earth” by throwing it on the ground? You won’t know until you try it yourself. Then you can help us answer a burning question: How the hell did aliens develop interstellar travel before they invented malware-blocking software?

Electricity Independence Day is Hulu.
