Strategies that I want to keep after our trip


Share some of the strategies that I tried to stay in our lives after our trip.

Hello friends! How are you doing? How was the weekend? I hope you had a great thing! We celebrated the BDay of my Nana, the pilot was at home from a trip, I taught a barre class and met with a friend to the brunch. We also got a monsoon rain, which is always a small pleasure.

For today’s post I wanted to have a little about our trip, my perspective since we back and some of the strategies I wanted to maintain. As you know, we love to travel. I have the feeling that it is the most humming way for us to spend the money that we deserve – for experiences – and it gives us the opportunity not to be a family (or as a couple). Travel always gives me the perspective and helps me to remember what my energy and joy actually drives … and what not.

While we were in Spain, we could take time and really enjoy every day. I really tried to keep some of the things that I loved so much on our trip (you know, in addition to the epic sights, culture and food …) and bring them to a small list. It is not really about the “vacation mode” forever, but about what the trip reminded me the most.

Strategies that I want to keep after our trip

1. Go as much as possible

We went for miles every day, not even an attempt, and the movement felt natural and refreshing – not forced. Although it is a bit more challenging here, I still try to create this a little at home after dinner, to walk during dinner and walk Maisey when the rain has cooled down a little.

It’s funny because Tucson is not a wall -friendly city. Everything is far, it is a million degrees, and when you go outside, most people assume that your car broke together unless you are in a neighborhood or a hiking trail. It is definitely the highlight of the summer, so I used my little challenge all day. In Spain I would easily take 20,000 steps a day and I have to be intended to meet 10,000 here.

2. Cooking in from the ground up (and choose places that do the same)

The food we ate felt nutritious and intended, be it in Airbnb, from friends (our friend Tony makes an epic carrillada) or by a cook in a cozy local place. Although I don’t believe that we have to have chic meals all the time, the quality and freshness of the ingredients speaks volumes. I have found that there are only a handful of restaurants here that are worth the costs for me. I would rather buy good ingredients and cook at home instead of paying 100-200 for a mediocre food for four.

3. Just keep the meals

I also remembered that the meals did not need 18 ingredients or 3 sauces to be satisfactory. A piece of grilled fish, a roasted vegetables, a splash of olive oil and lemon: perfection. Since our trip was on the longer side, I was able to cook in Airbnb, but I also didn’t want to buy a lot of ingredients and components. Our meals were so simple, fresh and satisfactory.

4. Stay late and sleep in (seasonal)

It was really magical to hug summer nights: children late, spontaneous gelato runs, morning light peeked through the windows while you are still rolling up in bed. It is not a routine forever, but a fun memory to sometimes bend the rules. The school year is very rigid and planned (it must be), so that it felt like an epic pleasure to stay up in most nights until midnight or 1 a.m. and start the day around 9:30 a.m.

5. Slow meals with good company

New to create the 2-hour meals, be it with friends on the terrace or only in four at the dining table. I thought it was great that meals are not rushed, which enables them to enjoy the food and society so much more. I think that they are more coordinated with hunger information, so they actually eat less. I tried to slow down a little with all aspects of life.

6. Prioritize new adventures with the girls

Even at home: new parks, new recipes, small day trips or just to help me plan something “new”. Travel always reminds me of how magical it is to see the world through her eyes. Also what they say is true: they grow up so quickly. Things they used to enjoy are no longer so exciting, so it was fun to explore what they are on and have some new adventures together.

7. If you take a break … nothing falls apart

That is big. Together we all wear a huge mental and emotional stress, especially as mothers. We are those who remember, who mysteriously run out of socks, the ingredients that we have to pick up for dinner order a gift for the birthday party this weekend. A child has a dental date together with work deadlines and tasks tomorrow. It was refreshing to take just one step back … and nothing broke. The blog, the inbox, the tasks; They all waited when we returned and it was fine.

When both girls were babies, I blog three times a day and couldn’t imagine taking more than a short weekend. In the end, I took about six weeks off for the first time and nothing broke.

I prescribed my content in advance and only accepted customer calls and emails while we were gone. It was a great gift and it gave me new inpiration and energy to return to things when we were back. I do not think that I will soon be free again for six weeks, lol lol reminds that they can step away a bit and that things will be okay.

8. Take time for art, music and culture

Regardless of whether it is a museum, a live music or a symphony in Spotify at dinner, it gives everyday life wealth. You don’t have to be in another country to bring beauty into your day. I try to try to book theater cards, enjoy music outdoors, visit museum and bring little culture and joy into our lives.

9. Care community

One of the most beautiful things in Spain is the community environment. Our friends attend an international school in Seville and the parents often meet. They constantly enjoy a drink or tapas together while the children go out and play and play meals, day trips and game data. We are lucky enough to have an incredible community here in Tucson. So it was a good memory to continue to promote the relationships that are important to us.

10. Show yourself for the day

The Europeans have a way to appear with care for the day. While leggings totally have their place (I will never leave it completely), the dressing feels good. I definitely feel more focused and productive when I am in * real * clothes instead of sweat and a hoodie. 😉
