SRM Casablanca set: 5.3 mmdh to strengthen the drinking water supply

On the occasion of the World Water Day, which was celebrated on March 22nd under the topic “The preservation of the glaciers”The regional multi-Services Company (SRM) Casablanca set presented its projects to strengthen the region’s drinking water supply.

As part of its 2025 investment program, the SRM plans to start 211 projects for a budget of 5.3 billion DH. Among them is the construction of 12 water tanks with a global capacity of 277,000 m³, which leads the total storage capacity to more than 1.1 million m³ (+22%).

A large water supply project of the future Casablanca relaxation station is also underway, with an investment of 2.15 billion DH. This project provides for the implementation of 118 km, two tanks in Sahel Oulad H’riz and two pumping stations that ensure an annual capacity of 300 million m³.

In response to water stress, the SRM also started an emergency program of 400 million DH to install 33 monobloc stations for desalination and demineralization of healthy water. So far, 11 stations are in operation and enable a treatment capacity of 255 l/s.

A leak detection and repair plan has been available since October 2024. Thanks to advanced technologies, 1,971 leaks were repaired, which saves more than 3.5 million m³ of water in four months.

In addition, the SRM carries out awareness -raising measures with young people and the public, whereby in its infrastructure, including the Médiouna treatment plant, guided tours are organized to promote more responsible water consumption.
