“Squid Game’s Weird Season 2 Post-Credits Scene Explained by Creator”

The first season of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s hit series “Squid Game” ended with a winner. Player 456, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), was the last man standing, won 45.6 billion won and changed his life forever. At the end of the second season of “Squid Game,” not only was Gi-hun back in the games, but after seven episodes the games were still running. The players split into two factions – those who want to keep playing and those who want to get home while they still can – with Gi-hun leading an uprising against the guards that unfortunately fails almost as quickly as it started. This shocking cliffhanger is sure to captivate audiences until the third season arrives sometime in the summer of 2025, but for those who were smart enough to stick around after the credits rolled, there’s an even bigger mystery hanging over the games.

In a post-credits scene that only lasted a few seconds, a handful of players (096, 100, and 353) shyly approach Young-hee, the disturbing giant robot girl who controls the game of “Red Light, Green Light,” but she faces a new playing card – a sunset. Because as sweet and innocent as she may seem, those who have seen Squid Game know that she is an omen of extinction – an angel of death. Luckily, Hwang Dong-hyuk explained what’s going on with this mysterious new doll and what fans can expect in Season 3.

Both dolls appear to have sensors in their eyes, and We at /Film have already come up with theories that this may be to combat players who hide their movement behind the players in front of them so Young-hee can’t see them, or that it may be a look at an earlier iteration of the game from years before. However, in conversation with Weekly entertainmentHwang Dong-hyuk explained that the doll’s name is Cheol-su and that the post-credits scene is not only a teaser for Season 3, but also a brand new game. As he explained:

“This is actually a sneak peek of Cheol-su, who, like Young-hee, is a new giant doll that we’ll be introducing in Season 3, and this is also a hint of the most exciting game in Season 3.” Well, Even though it hasn’t been shared yet, I hope everyone is excited to get to know Cheol-su and the new game.”

The addition of Cheol-su, the new playing card, and the image of a flashing red light and a green train light contrasting with Young-hee announcing the change and turning his head suggests that it is either a completely different one version of the game is about what the audience is used to seeing, or It’s a completely different game.
