Meknes-Marocco-Spain Undersea Tunnel, an ambitious project that could link the city of the Moroccos Tanglan with Algeciras in Spain through the Gibraltar street cost The Spanish newspaper La Razón recently reported on 15 billion euros.
La Razón reports that the tunnel between Spain and Morocco is more than just a technical performance – it is an important player in the global geostrategic scene.
The newspaper spoke about how the project strengthens the connections between Europe and Africa and facilitate trade, freight traffic and tourism and at the same time accelerate the rail integration between the continents, although the Morocco railway network has not yet been fully electrified.
Interest in the tunnel project rose after the FIFA had accepted the joint offer of Morocco-Spain Portugal for the organization of the 2030 World Cup. However, the tunnel is not ready for the tournament in time.
The intercontinental connection aims to increase the economic exchange between the countries by accelerating the movement of both passengers and goods. Ferry services are currently being transported across the street.

Engineer project The tunnel will not be completed before 2040, even if the construction begins soon. The Herrenknecht Ibérica, a Spanish subsidiary of the German company Herrenknecht, monitors the project and recently started two technical studies to determine the feasibility and promote the technical details.
This delay is reportedly due to some significant technical challenges, since the location of the tunnel on the border between the Eurasian and African tectonic plates along the Azores-Gibraltar fault line.
This massive infrastructure project is one of the most challenging technical services that are currently planned in the Mediterranean region. When it is complete, it would establish the first firm connection between Africa and Europe and possibly change the trade relationships between the continents.
