Rabat – Muslims throughout South Africa will celebrate Eid al fitr on Monday, March 31, 2025.
The official announcement came after the religious authorities confirmed the visibility of the Shawwal moon and marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Islamic month of Shawwal begins with the festive celebration of Eid Al Fitr, which “the celebration of fasting”, a highly expected celebration after a month full of fast and prayer.
Ramadan is not just a month in which they talk from food, drink and fleshy joys from the first light of dawn to the sun. It is also a month to take care of the soul and relationship with Allah and others.
Muslims are rewarded with Eid al-Fitr every year to celebrate themselves and each other.
For Muslims worldwide, Eid al Fitr is a day of prayer, and South Africa is no exception, since oath prayers and thousands are expected in the early morning.
In accordance with the spirit of oath, the community leaders asked the public to use the spirit of generosity and compassion by getting involved in non -profit actions and supporting the needy, mainly by the Islamic pillar of Zakat.
According to the teachings of the Prophet Mohammad (SAW), the Muslims are also asked to focus on maintaining and strengthening blood bonds by visiting or calling their family members wherever they could have themselves, regardless of disputes.
654,064 Muslims live in South Africa, which make up 1.5% of the population.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his best wishes to the Muslims of South Africa and emphasized the spirit of joy, faith and unity.
